When Arlene Rosen lost her son Michael to a drug overdose, she started a treatment center to help spare other families from the pain she experienced. Michael's House opened in 1989 and has been serving patients and their families through comprehensive, integrated treatment for over three decades.
Michael's House is nationally recognized for providing integrated treatment for drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief/loss, personality disorders, and similar conditions.

Our Staff
Our program treats patients aged 18 and older in both residential and outpatient settings. The staff is specially trained in the Foundations Recovery Network treatment model to address the complex needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders and to treat the whole person in a comprehensive way.
We support patients with an integrated, multidisciplinary team. Primary therapists, consulting physicians, residential therapists, nurses, group leaders, and others are all part of a patient’s treatment team.

Dual Diagnosis
Mental disorders and addiction often go hand in hand. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), people diagnosed with a mood or anxiety disorder are twice as likely to struggle with addiction.
Unfortunately, people with both mental illnesses and addiction tend to slip through the cracks of the modern medical world and may not get the help they need. They may see their doctors for their medical condition and see addiction counselors for their addiction. However, until the two forms of therapy are united, the person is unlikely to see any real relief.

We are committed to providing education and resources to the communities we serve, working to provide best practice care to our patients.
Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), which provides care through its national network of subsidiaries, has supported the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance) as an Executive Committee member for over a decade. The Action Alliance is the country’s public-private partnership, working to advance the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, which includes the goal of expanding implementation of best practices for suicide care across the country.
